Don’t know much about them, but seems like they’re doing well?
Why are you leaving Roku? I ask as I have interview scheduled
Got a new manager and I really dislike the manager
Oh. I feel sorry for you. Managers can be pain in the ass sometimes. Keep this aside, how would you define the culture at Roku? Were you working as hardware engineer/software?
Solid product
Any idea how far away from an exit they are?
Hi there, did you join marqeta? Any info would be helpful.
I work there, the base pay is pretty good if you have 12-15+ yrs experience, but it’s an pretty shitty place to work. It has the highest turnover rate amongst engineers that I’ve ever seen... (an entire team quit together). If you wanna be a mindless IC drone.. who isn’t allowed to own anything, make any decisions on your own, or have any hope for mobility (upward or lateral movement) this is your company. I’m pretty sure that engineering management has begun to specifically target developers who have absolutely zero ambition to be any better or learn anything new.
I’m at Marqeta and this does NOT represent the culture in tech. Outright lies ☝️
I was at Marqeta for a while and it describes it pretty well actually. The politics at that company are way too intense for its size.
One of my ex-colleague from adobe moved to marqeta as principle engineer and then later got promoted to manager recently. I hear that there are politics, but I wonder where is not politics. I have worked in Salesforce, adobe and roku - I don’t see any shortage of politics anywhere.
Yes, Marqeta is a good company to work for. Business is doing great and the people are wonderful. Some startup growing pains for sure but that comes with growth.
How fast does the recruiter get back
If you are good, stay in Roku. I am your stock holder!
