Expedia CTO fired due to violation against company policy
just started interview process for meta. recruiter says realistically can target E5 based on current level at amazon/ YoE. Currently l6 at amazon expecting promotion to L7 at amazon next year. Wondering if there's any upside in trying for e5 at meta right now, vs sticking around at amazon, hoping for L7 next year, and then trying for E6 at meta Would prefer meta > amazon for brand value long term but not sure of work culture at meta or growth prospects/ speed YoE: 7 years TC: 340K #tech #product
L7 with 7yoe is overoptimistic
Which org is scammed with L7 @ 7YOE
L5 at meta is the unwashed masses, basically a better paying L5 at Amazon. If you look up levels distribution at meta like 60% of the company is L5. At Amazon, L6 is 13% and L7 is like 2-3%. I personally wouldn’t come anywhere near L5 at meta if I was near L7 at Amazon. IMO the first promo out of “generic terminal level” (L5 at both companies) is hardest and if you come to meta will need to do it all over again
that is very helpful. i knew that for engineering but thought for pms, L5 is a good deal (looking at the levels.fyi guide)
If anything I would be PMs are more overleveled than eng. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a PM not at least L5 that isn’t a very new college hire
Meta doesn’t care about current level
Yeah you can request to be interviewed for a higher level, either you pass the bar or don't
thanks.. thats good advice. do recruiters try to down level usually?
