I used to be considered a liberal, now I am leaning conservative. What happend?
I m currently working as a Cloud Architect n IBM and I have been shortlisted in Atlassian for Senior Cloud Migrations Manager. I think this Role comes under Engineering and Support under CSS BU Current YOE - 12.5 Yrs Current tc - 22.5 lpa Current role - Cloud Infrastructure Architect. 1. Atlassian Senior Cloud Migration Mgr P5 ; Base - 33 lpa, Retirals - 2.5 ; var - 4.5 Rsu - 50k usd for 4 Yrs Engineering and Support - Under CSS BU. 2. Accenture Consulting Tech Strategy & Advisory Level 7 - Mgr Tc - Fix 30.5 and var - 9.5 3. Bosch Sr Cloud Architect ; L-54 Tc 34 lpa - fix 29 lpa Atlassian role is more aligned towards Cloud Prog Mgmt, more on functional side. So concerned if I'll stay relevant for any Tech or Techno Func roles in future. Just wanted to get some suggestions on which could be an ideal opportunity to pick ? Pls kindly share your thoughts in terms of role, growth options.
You sure can, and it really depends on how far you can push it. I don't have a lot of examples where people have moved into SRE or Dev roles or similar, but then there are exceptions. One thing is you'd be very busy with your job, since most Senior CMMs tend to have back to back meetings with customers throughout the day. This being said, if your technical acumen is on the higher side, then between the two, I'd say, go for Accenture. There is a lot of good and bad at Accenture from what I've heard, but if you're selective in the kind of projects you work on, it'll be very rewarding. Another point that favours Accenture is the number of onsite opportunities, but then again, it's a personal choice at the end of the day.
Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions From what i understand,it comes down to how badly I want to switch from CMM to a tech role after a year. Just wanted to know, if I decide to choose Atlassian, how easy or difficult it is to take an Internal Job Opportunity? Do they encourage it more or is there any road blocks around it? Even though I may enter in as Senior CMM, but will they consider.my past 12+ years of Technical + Architect experience too?
Definitely, it's friendly. Previous experience matters a lot and moving to another role is encouraged. It's just that Atlassian can get very comfortable at times, so maybe people don't prefer to move around too much. You would want to watch out for that. You get ample opportunities in terms of learning budgets and reimbursement for certifications. Out of the three choices you have, strictly on brand terms, we know Atlassian is way ahead of the other two. It's upto you on how you want to take your career ahead here. All the best mate!
Atlassian's CMM is very customer centric role. The word cloud is a myth, you'd barely ever get to interact with what's underneath the SaaS offering with respect to the cloud, but you gain a great deal of experience dealing with difficult customers. Probably because the migration tooling sucks real bad. Can't say about others, but if you'd like to stay technical, avoid CMM. If you wanna jump into a management role, then Atlassian it is.
Thank you for this clarity. Since I am from core Technical background, can I consider this Atlassian opportunity to get in and then take up something technical after a year in this CMM role? As this ll add some leadership value to my cv? And howz the Internal Job Mobility in Atlassian? Also if I have to skip this role, jus wanted to u'stand what would you suggest from the other two remaining options?
