Currently remote at Amazon. Meta would require relocation. I’d also be giving up around 100k in the first year due to stock appreciation at Amazon, Meta will not negotiate a sign on. Amazon is TCT assuming stock growth.
Eh arguably a pay cut + giving up remote why would you do it unless you hate your current role
I feel a lot of the Amazon misery goes away if you're remote.
Calculate up to 4th year roughly using estimates and then makes the decision.
If you’re happy at Amazon just stay. This doesn’t seem like enough of a pay increase to leave. Did meta say anything about potentially moving to full time remote?
Pay increase? It is a pay decrease based on the numbers shared by op
One thing you ought to check is if you remote/virtual is going to get renewed or not. I know two SDMs whose virtual status is not getting renewed past May. This will make your decision easier
What’s your background op? What do you work on?
This really depends on the teams. I like my team as I am working on ML systems, and I wouldn't want to change teams for a 3 percent change. Is the meta team exciting to you maybe. I would say try to find a staff position at a growth company, would be a better move.
Don't move for "brand" not worth it.
I would request $60k sign on bonus. If they are able to match somewhere around there and you like Seattle area go for it
An Amazon L6 is equivalent to a Meta E5
I know amazon L5 who joined Meta as E6
Did they survive joining as E6 ?
