Ray Dalio believes we are hitting a depression similar to that of the 1930s, which will take years of financial and economic reconfiguration and human ingenuity to recover from, as he discussed in a Wednesday Ted Connects talk. “We’re going to restructure our economy and restructure our financial system” over the next couple of years in order to recover. Dalio’s biggest worry is that restructuring will not be done in a civil bipartisan way to “both increase the size of the pie and divide it well,” warning of partisan politics preventing effective solutions, “damaging”—rather than repairing—the economy. Ray Dalio’s Bridgewater Associates has $160 billion in assets under management, making Dalio the 46th richest person in the world with an $18 billion net worth. He also thanked the Chinese for their work on coronavirus, noting that doing so was political: “The Chinese, in many ways, are helping with things that are needed to manage this crisis.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexandrasternlicht/2020/04/08/ray-dalio-were-heading-into-a-great-depression/amp/
No one knows
He thanks China for the RMB he made
Lmao- Bridgewater loses its clients money after Dalio writes a bunch of books about his bulletproof investment strategy. His way of interpreting events: “this must be an un-modelable and irrecoverable global credit slump”. Not that he’s wrong necessarily- but know that this guy is eating a lot of his words.
Hedge funds don't promise to not lose money. Bridgewater doesn't even try to beat the market in good times. It tries to not do as bad as the market in bad times, and it hasn't performed as badly as the broader market.
Most people think hedgefunds are PE funds hahah
I swear the hyper liberal folks are hoping this gets worse so they have more of a platform to push their big-state agendas.
"big agendas" ... Like not allowing ak-47 rifles on campuses ... So revolutionary
Another idea of the "big agenda" : having a healthcare system comparable to those in the developed world instead of a huge army .... Revolutionary
The stock market doesnt agree with his assertion, I think the market is procing in that the number of deaths is going to be lesser than what was predicted
Boo! Boooooo! 👻
“Restructure our economy and financial system” so he can go from $18B to the Bezos and Zucks $100B club. This is what it’s all about boys and girls. More concentration of wealth and power!
Do you really believe he can get a lot rich by cheating in this way? Can you give me an example that someone succeeded in this way?
Why does anyone think this won’t happen?
Isn't always the opposite happens?
What opposite are you talking about? Like the economy will go up like crazy instead of going down?
As in democratic capitalism and human ingenuity have increased living standards 100X over the last 300 years while it increased 2X the previous 1000 years.
Is he a democrat or something?
Moderate, like most level headed people
Middle ground fallacy. Everyone inside the Overton window of modern politics is an idiot. If you can say your honest political views at work without getting fired, you’re a moron.
