What is the likely level mapping for folks who end up in the “stay” group in a broad com acquisition? Will a Staff 1 engineer be ICB5? Or down leveled once to ICB4 or down leveled twice to ICB3? How about a staff 2 engineer and Senior MTS? What we’re the experiences of the Symantec, CA and Brocade folks
Tbh at this point I wouldn’t worry too much about levels…job security first
Exactly
During Symantec acquisition the senior MTS was icb3 and even staff were icb3.. principal was icb4 and senior principal was icb4 too.. only senior managers and directors were icb5. These are for Symantec proxy and DLP BU offers seen by me. They downleveled everyone and when people asked higher management they said it’s Broadcom’s level of Mapping and Symantec can’t do anything.
If I’m coming in as a new grad what are my chances of sticking around at vmware? They have a program starting this July
I don’t think you will be laid off but you will be new grad in broadcom too. Not sure what’s the level for broadcom for new grads. You are not that costly for company and you increase head count.
ICB1 for new grads, 2 for MS, 3 for PHD and you can map that to experience as well
Lol ^ more evidence that Broadcom is classic boomer culture
How do the IC roles map wrt management roles ?
ICB4 matches the lowest management level.
Most managers in IC5 Senior Managers IC6 Directors in IC7
Just try to map TC, you tell me your current TC I can tell you which ICB you fall under.
What SMTS will be mapped to ? Any idea ?
Every acquisition plays out differently. I’ve seen them jam people into lower pay scales, leading to a mass exodus. I’ve also seen them maintain mostly separate scales for years. It probably hasn’t even been decided yet and will be something that senior management will negotiate on an ongoing basis.
