BlackRock vs Amazon
I am gonna join BlackRock soon. As a tech guy i know my decision to join Blackrock over Amazon might seem weird to many of you but this is because i got much better offer from BR. I would love to know good/bad things about Blackrock from you guys if you have had any experience.
Blackrock š I worked at DE Shaw before, it is the best workplace I have worked in yet! Hedge funds are funā¦ also my current company is terrible

Vice President at black rock makes 250 according to levels whereas a VP at amazon makes > a million. Wth

VPs at these companies are just pretty much senior engineers
Iām in the minority here, but Iād go with Amazon. Working in an actual tech company is much better than an investment bank, but I guess it depends on TC and the actual bonus you might get at BR.
I agree 100%, i worked in a financial services company once the work is bad , engineers are treated as second grade citizens always , people make some baby application in java and present it like it's the 8th wonder. Go with amazon culture maybe shit but there will always be engineering first attitude.
If you value wlb, Blackrock is amazing. I usually get 6 weeks + time off every year. I'm moving to MSFT soon to increase my TC while keeping a good wlb. Go with your gut, if you don't like it, leetcode and move somewhere else. How many yoe you got?

Yes, this is super surprising. My current TC is nowhere near friends at Amazon for same role/yoe
