Nutanix Furlough
As most of you might know, Nutanix has furloughed close to 1.5k employees. As someone who joined Nutanix pretty recently for an entry level position, how worried should I be about this situation?

I was one of the people that got furloughed. I was mostly looking for any insight on how companies handle entry level roles in this type of scenario. I'm pretty sure I'm safe for now, but more curious if things take a turn for the worse because of this covid situation.

Start looking. It won’t hurt to start. I would say nutanix took a good decision to furlough instead of layoffs. But we can’t predict the future, so better to keep looking.

I think all employees in Nutanix are affected. Not just SJ office. I’m also grateful that the company did not choose lay-off as its first choice. Meanwhile, we should all start leetcoding. Personally, I like the team I’m working with. And I will not proactively look for opportunities. But just in case there is a lay-off, I can start interviews immediately.
What does furlough exactly entail ? You won’t get pay for 1 week?

Got the general gist that it couldn't hurt to do some leetcode. With that said the earnings reports were slightly reassuring. Even with the pandemic there has still been slight growth in Nutanix earnings, but can't make any predictions for the future.
Would you have got a different gist if you asked internally instead?

My point was the earnings reports helped put my mind at ease, but since you're a stickler for words I'll send you whatever I'm going to post on blind from now on to make sure it's worded correctly. Wouldn't want to 'slightly' offend anyone.
