have seen multiple times on blind people mentioning that some questions get banned internally once they are leaked on glassdoor etc. is it a real thing? do they have a list of questions that adviced to not be used?
Yes, this is done regularly as questions surface online and questions are frequently marked as leaked
Yep, that’s why the questions get stupider each year
Not sure if the banned list exists or not. I dont care though, I ask random questions about distributed system everytime.
You need to share your question before interview and hiring management is a part of it. They do make sure that the question is not something which was asked to the candidate before or is a one from the leaked ones.
It all depends, my questions are pretty unique so I dont worry about duplication.
What is the point here? You are only hiring people that are good at hiding.
There is, but it’s not enforced. To be honest, most of our day to day job problems are not new, it’s about how we can find the best solution given circumstances. The same applies for interview questions. I am sure my question is out there somewhere, but in the 80+ interviews that I have conducted, there were a huge variety of novel and interesting ideas. Also, candidates who only memorize solutions can’t elaborate and walk me through pros and cons, so believe me, we can easily distinguish between someone who understands the problem/solution and someone who just repeats something back to us.
Yes, this is a thing. Come to FB, we rarely ban anything.
