EDIT: Lucid backed out - need I140 or 3+ years left on H1B so they can file after 1st year evaluation. Wasted my time. Also lowest salary of all 3, first preference to Cali local peeps. Rivian - Waiting to hear on next rounds Fisker - 2 more rounds schedule with various people, different departments. Semiconductor company- Mutual rejection because they wanted me to take junior position for atleast 2-2.5yrs then promote to Manager position. ------------------------------------------------ I cleared 3 interviews for all above companies all for TPM Electrical role. I’m on H1B and need a GC sponsorship immediately (as my current company messed up the documentation) TC: Fisker - $135-$140k for remote in Michigan Rivian & Lucid wants me to move to Cali but have not told me specific base. Range is same as Fisker. Which of these companies are good with immigration and good for growth? Current TC :100k at Tier 1 P. S. Another semiconductor company offered me a role in Ann Arbor, starting as TPM then Manger with a year or two. Any one switched automotive to semiconductor industry before? TC : 140k in Michigan #auto #interview #rivian #fisker #lucid #sitime
Yoe?
6+ years
I mean all else equal, Fisker you’ll have the most disposable income, since COL is lower in MI vs. CA. Could be something to keep in mind, especially with another option in Ann Arbor.
Thanks. So the AA company came back & asked me to take a junior position for the first 2-2.5years before joining the Manager position as I don’t come from Semi industry and would need a lot of training & learning curve. I negotiated with 1 year as a transition time as in any new company but they rejected it. I told them they have put a training plan & performance review at the end of the first year. Looks like they wanted someone more hand on like an engineer then promoted to Manager.
Go with Rivian. Btw how many rounds of interviews did you have to go through at Rivian and Lucid?
Rivian is taking forever! They said they will file GC in the first month but looks like there are more than 300 candidates for the same position. In total Rivian takes 7-8 rounds. Lucid is the same way but they mentioned yesterday that they will not move forward because they either want I140 approved or more than 3 years left on H1B. They wasted my time. Plus they can’t pay over $125k & want me to move to Cali at that salary. BS
Lucid sucks. Worst company I've ever worked for, and they have no clue how to start producing cars at a reasonable rate even without the chip shortage looming in the background. Really bad supply chain management and the executives might as well be throwing darts at a board in order to make decisions. They refused to pay me over $125k, refused to make me a senior engineer despite my experience at a real OEM, and they constantly moved the goal posts when it came to going from Design Engineer --> Senior level.
Semiconductor would be better ann arbor...If u r planning to have a family, then lucid salary in California would make u cry everday

Rivian for sure. I would not go to Fisker even if TC was significantly higher. That company is a joke.
Out of three chances of succeeding are rivian > lucid > fisker( this one has negligible chance to succeed) Check fisker earnings today. 12k revenue lol Lucid has fantasticcc car. I know a richie who drives it and has 2 teslas to compare it with. Its easy to make concept vs mass production and they need to achieve that Rivian is on its way for mass production and is most likely to succeed. Product is great too, again i know folks who have it. I have booked one myself
12k? 🤮🤮
I agree with your rankings. But lucid pulled back on GC because they want i140 approved or 3+ years left on H1B. Rivian is super slow in the process. Insider info is there are 300+ applications for same position, not sure how it will go. I’m really looking into GM right now if anyone has good referrals.
Because of H1B go to Rivian. They are GC friendly.
Agree. Waiting for next 4 more rounds 🙈
If you have only 1.5 years left make sure you ask them to start the process on day 1
140 ish in CA is on a lower side for TPM. Both Rivian and Lucid will expect you to be in the Bay area.
For Rivian TPM electrical it will most likely be Irvine with the option to be in the Bay if you prefer
Rivian is Irvine, lucid pulled back because they want I140 in hand
Fisker dumps employees after the thing they are building is built. I have so many contacts in automotive safety that were dumped after the karma was done.
Wtf! How are launching there car in November then? The director & team is all new, future faraday guys mostly

Fisker is basically magna subsidiary. They outsourced everything. Ignore them. I would say rivian is solid. Lucid is also OK but does not attract the same level of people. Lucid has oil money. I have not heard of rivian messing immigration process so far.
Thanks. I appreciate it. Fisker is starting a new project without Magna launching end of 2024, this position is good, but then I don’t trust their cash flow.
There is a building full of magna employees and 3rd party contractors working on fisker electric drive system. Fisker has done the car sketch but everything else is basically outsourced. I don't think such a startup will survive long term.
