Why do I get so many third party headhunters from foreign countries contacting me about positions at Jane Street? When I check Jane Street’s career portal to search for the job based on the job description that they’ve sent it doesn’t exist. There are also a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. Are these real recruiters or fake headhunters just trying to collect resumes? If I am interested in a position should I just ignore the recruiters and apply directly on their portal?
Not all jobs are publicly posted. Especially at hedge funds.
I would stay away from recruiters with typos though
They are all for the same job positing which is likely evergreen. You’re not getting it
You’re pipping people at Datadog?
Referral?
These third party recruiters are generally very useless with few exceptions (Options Group seems legit).
Options is a scam. Don’t trust Glassdoor reviews
They got me interviews and eventually offers at Citadel Securities, Millennium Cap and Goldman Sachs Asset Management
Avoid Durlston recruiters in UK, useless company.
I see they are pretty active on lknd and have connections to some companies offering fully remote roles. Do you think it’s just a scam?
It’s probably not a scam, they just ghost you after “submitting” your applications. Never heard back from the companies I “applied” to through them, not even with a rejection. I’d be interested if anybody has had better success.
Apply directly
I would suggest so as well. Less headache working with external recruiter
On another note about applying through recruiters, as they will usually take X% of TC as commission. Will it affect the negotiation of TC, especially if commission is from same pot of budget ?

So many UK headhunters
In the UK there are plenty of college grads willing to work for £20k per year with the promise of some upside. So yeah, it's where most headhunting firms hire their junior sourcers. Their whole job is too send out 100 LinkedIn messages per day
