Current TC - 170k. MCOL. Got an l5 UX offer at Meta (295k). YOE - 9yrs Expecting Stripe L5 & salesforce L6 soon. Square, Dropbox & PayPal process just started. Confused on where to go for career growth. Curios to know perspective of designers/leaders on which company has the best culture? If you’re in these companies, could you elaborate the culture? Poll for everybody - what would you choose (among these) & why? #design
Meta is the best of your options. Meta has better wlb, strong pay for performance, and substantial upside to equity.
What’s your opinion on career growth? Stripe/Square vs Meta? (In terms of skills growth, projects, responsibilities etc)
Depends on the growth. Stripe is a great place if you want to grow into management. It’s OK if you want to grow was an IC. There are plenty of opportunities to deliver impactful projects. But there’s no clear path after reaching staff.
How do you feel about that meta offer? Is that not a bit of a low-ball for IC5? And curious could you dm me your portfolio? I'm also in the process w meta just curious to compare.
definitely if it's HCOL. I am in a very mediocre MCOL. 295 is very high for the location. (Georgia)
Perhaps better to choose a team/project than a company. 0->1, high visibility projects can give the most career growth imo
That’s a great point! I think that’s where my biggest debate comes in. Meta has brilliant designers & culture to learn from.. but I am more enticed by new products in other companies & more impact on those products.. not really sure Meta products excite me. However, the ppl makes a big difference too! .. (I guess Meta designers can chime in on this)
Yup agree, you could learn a lot by working with great designers
