Hello Guys I have developed eye floaters while leetcoding and preparing for interviews. Actually I started interview prep in Oct 2020 and started doing LC heavily. 5 ques a day with my office meetings and work. I applied in few companies like FB and G etc and got the call for phone screen as well. As I was doing LC more, my screen time increased a lot and due to that I started developing more dryness in my left eye. So I took a break for 1 or 2 day and again resumed. Eyes were normal till November. Qualified phone screens. Then started prep again for onsites. Meanwhile I also gave few practice interviews in the companies which I don't care. They were continuous sessions of 3 to 4 hours on the screen. With this my sleeping time goes to 2 AM as I started developing some stress. My screen time goes to 12 hours a day ( as I was doing LC and office work ) but not all continuous. Then came a day, I remember it was 28th Dec, I started seeing a little large floater swimming in the vision of my left eye. There was heavy dryness and eye strain also which I was feeling from few days in my left eye. But I ignored thinking it is a temporary problem. Then after 2 or 3 days, I noticed little floaters in my right eye too. My right eye was good with no dryness issues. Then I decided to shut the laptop off. Thereafter on 4th to 6th January, I visited many eye specialists for thorough eye exam and done the OCT (Ultrasound of the eye). Every eye doctor said everything is fine, no sign of worry. Your vision is normal. Floaters have been developed may be due to aging or due to high inflammation and dryness in the eyes. Prescribed some eye drops and said floaters may go away with time, ignore them. I also started eating pineapple. I saw youtube videos which says pineapple help removing floaters. But now it is 2 weeks drinking half a glass pineapple juice daily, I m noticing some more transparent floaters in my both eyes or may be viterous jelly has been liquified more due to pineapple juice so my big floater in my left eye is changing its shape rapidly while I m moving the eye balls. I m pretty scared now. My vision is completely normal 6/6 both eyes. My age is 28. I wanted to check with the blind community and to the folks who spent most of the time in front the screen, have you ever noticed sudden eye floaters. If yes, at what age. Will they go away eventually causing no harm to the eyes in how much time. Please share your experiences. My vision was completely clean and now I see few transparent floaters or little blurry strings swimming in my vision. I have limited my screen time bug I am still feeling strain and little pain in my left eye while watching the screen. Any tips how to overcome with this. I care a lot about my health from many years. I am drinking carrot juice daily, eating fruits and exercising too (cardio), 3 to 4 days a week but I still I got this floaters problem. My vision is 6/6 Age 28 Yoe 5.5 years #tech #healthcare #eyes #interviews #leetcode
Love go to an Opthalmologist
Went to 3 of them Everyone says no sign of worry. But it looks to me floaters are increasing or may be I am thinking too much
If they say no worry then no worry. The gel in your eye will adjust and give it a year or two and you’ll realize it all stopped. *Been there before
To me this sounds like anxiety. You may be getting floaters but it's the anxiety that's pushing you to focus on them. Source: I have gotten panic attacks from stress before.
Panic attacks of what kind
That’s possible
I’m not a doctor and I’ve had floaters since childhood lol seems perfectly normal. Most people probably just never notice. If three different doctors told you it’s fine it’s probably fine 🤷♂️ you can always ask another one. Probably not here though
Unfortunately floaters rarely go away on their own as they are coming from your vitreous fluid. Sudden Floaters could be a sign of a potential retinal tear or detachment of either your retina or vitreous. I would recommend going to an ophthalmologist that specializes in the retina and get them checked out. Source: i know someone who had this problem
I noticed more floaters after getting LASIK. They do fade out of your vision over time as your brain adjusts to them. Now I only notice if it’s super bright outside. If you’ve had your eyes examined and nothing is wrong then there isn’t much to be worried about. Only if you see huge increases in floaters very suddenly.
I've had distracting floaters since high school (same as Fb). 30yrs old now, just had to get used to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It is tough, but just hang in there! I don't have any tricks tho, sorry. They're not bad when I'm focused on something interesting, just when unengaged and reading dense stuff on white paper or blankly staring at the sky. Optometrists mentioned surgery is an option, but risky, so I haven't gone there. I've read/heard anecdotes that it's most prevalent in near-sighted peeps, so maybe LASIK might help (though hopefully you have other motivations if investigate that path). EDIT: K, maybe ignore the LASIK suggestion based on Porch's post.
I also developed it during lockdown, since I was excessively using screens. Don't focus on it, It cannot be corrected without surgery and there is no point going for surgery if number of floaters are less and size is small. Just don't pay attention to it. In 6 months your eye will automatically adjust and you won't even notice it in your vision after sometime.
Very unfortunate to hear that you also develop them. How many are they roughly. Did you undertake a thorough eye exam
I have only one in my left eye. Yes I got it examined, doc said nothing to worry about. It will automatically disappear. I havent seen increase in size or count since then.
I've had floaters since I was a kid. From experience, you're only noticing them more because you're stressed about. 99% of people with mild to moderate amounts of floaters unconsciously ignore them. RELAX
Don't get panic.. Nothing to worry.... Work on positive thoughts and feelings...
Yup. Do you also hsve floaters. If yes at what age you develop those
