Currently an intern at Cisco, wondering which offer to accept. (Not sure about the work and the work life balance at salesforce, the work at cisco is not that interesting, and leaves me with a lot of free time)
Salesforce Anyday
I would love to say Salesforce... and that it's a no-brainer. Would have said that a couple of years back without hesitation. But now, with the way things are, it's not that simple. I would encourage you to reach out to the SF manager and understand the tech you will be working (that's important early in your career) and the expectations of you. If they say you are working on Core ... RUN. If they tell you that you will be part of Industries Cloud ... RUN. Prioritize learning right now. You can have the same convo with your Cisco manager (or better yet, teammates) and understand the tech. Make your decision based on that. You can always move companies in a couple of years to improve your TC but making up for lost learning is considerably harder. If you work in SF on core, a lot of your knowledge will be useless outside, and you will feel stuck.
I cannot reach out to my SF manager as we haven't been assigned a team yet. We will be assigned the teams and have our team specific onboarding after 1-2 months of joining, so I have no way to know if I will be working on Core or Industries Cloud. Not sure what I should do, I had planned to have the 1:1 with my Cisco manager tomorrow and tell him about resigning, but confused now.
I talked to a few people, and it most probably is Industries Cloud.
Salesforce, as a fresher you probably have very little say in what you will be working on. Simply choose the better company
Don't go to either. You will kill your learning curve required at this stage of career. as someone said if it's anywhere near to core in Salesforce, please save yourself.
Both are bad imo. Go to amazon or some startup. You really digest things very well in the beginning of your career and you mould yourself well if you see good mentors and strong engineers around you. Unfortunately in Salesforce, the quality of work is very bad. Stay away from sf if you’re gonna work on core as someone already suggested. Don’t worry about tc in the beginning of your career
Everyone is talking about core, what exactly is core in Salesforce?
You are just starting out- no need to worry about WLB imho.
Okay! Thankyou
How do you say I approach my manager at Cisco for resigning? Also would resigning as an intern be bad for my resume?
