I am interviewing for a BI analyst role, though I usually go for DE roles. Could anyone provide any insights on the company and is the flying perks worth the slight down grade on title? #data #dataanalytics #bi #dataengineering
Thanks for sharing 🙏
AS has exactly one benefit: space-available seats. No other benefits (other than health/401k/etc you can get everywhere else). I didn’t enjoy my time there as an analyst. The industry is fickle and downturns happen cyclically. Personally I would never work in the airline industry again because of that career insecurity. Good place to start your career, not a good place after mid-level.
I think what @cMIU is saying is exceptionally team dependant and their experience is very different from mine. I started out as an IC engineer and have built out an entire subdivision that I lead since then. If you reach for opportunity it's there and there's little red tape to get done your work.
Flying perks involve free or 90% off space-available airfare on 190 airlines. BI roles are typically hybrid, so you can take advantage of that and do extended weekends in Japan, Europe, Australia, etc. Culture is strong in BI and they lead the company in a lot of strategic decisionmaking and the leadership team surrounding it are broadly respected internally. It's a great opportunity for a great company. There are downsides as it is a non tech firm, so budgets and innovation mindset can be a challenge at times.
