canada, multiple entry visa?

how does one qualify for the multiple entry tourist visa? indian on an h1b at Amazon. i am flying to india through canada on nov 26 and i am required to get a transit visa, but i figured i thought instead i should just apply for a visitor visa so that i can explore it as a travel destination sometime in future. will I be rejected because of this?

It's pretty straight forward. Even if you apply for a single entry visa for few days, by default they will give you a multiple entry visa valid till passport expiry. Approval rates are pretty high for people applying from U.S. just say you want to visit some places. You don't need to provide flight tickets, just an itinerary is enought. The process is online. Once it's approved, you send your passport for visa stamping.

FYI, Indian Canadian people flying out of Vancouver are disrespectful af. They give zero sh#ts about the lineup at the washroom. I had to sit through one guy standing in the aisle talking to the guy sitting in the window seat and having him lean and bounce on the back of my seat while I was trying to sleep. Then these two Indian guys were standing at the emergency exit talking for an hour with a serious face while one of them had his hands on the emergency exit lever. It was scary af. This old Indian grandma behind took her shoes off and put her barefeet on my arm rest... This Indian couple b#tched about not being able to get the vegetarian option even though they never pre-ordered the vegetarian meal like they were supposed to. All of this was on two of my flights to Asia where Indians were sharing a leg on the same flights. Just saying, your flight out of Canada with a bunch of Indian Canadians will probably be horrible.

Hi @s3down - did you end up applying for a tourist visa instead of the transit visa? If so, how long did it take? We have a flight coming up from Sf-Vancouver-Delhi in less than 3 weeks
