I have fungible offer for DV Engineer. Base : 178k Stock : 100k (if it goes IPO, it will be 500k) No bonus YOE : 10 What should I do?
RSU or options?
Legit question, why go from a public company with real stock to a startup? Are you banking on an IPO, or just find the work interesting? In general, financially it usually doesn't make sense to join a startup. Long hours and little pay. And even no bonus in this case.
After you join a public company and if share prices multiplies by 3x 4x then yes joining a startup may not make much sense. But right startup can completely change you... In my 10years career spent initial 4yrs in public comp and joined startup stayed there for 5yrs and joined another startup. In my first startup got 60k shares vested and now each share is $20 in secondary market. If it goes to public it may go for $35-$45 easily. Now $1200000 i.e 1.2M USD is what minimum I should be making from that.
That's pretty cool. So when will it go public?
Assuming it’s bay area, base seems to be low for 10 YOE with no other components.
So have you joined fungible?
