I am evaluating joining Zalando. I saw a bunch of posts about Zalando being toxic. I am trying to assess if it is because of a couple of people, who had a bad experience with Zalando, being quite active on Blind. So, I hereby call upon the great (ex)Berliners to provide an objective view about Zalando and help this community. To be clear, by toxic I mean firing during probation, bullying someone out, PIP etc. Not talking about the usual office politics, which IMHO exists more or less everywhere. Current TC: 97K Euros, Amsterdam Offered TC: 105K Euros, Berlin YoE: 7 SWE #Zalando #berlin #booking #klarna #hellofresh #soundcloud #germany
I have at least 2 friends who were happy employees. One of them still works with Zalando. Both in tech roles.
80k ? Are you sure? I don't think it is possible.
Realised I mentioned only the base. Updated.
If you have 30% ruling then stay or find better
It's not because of a couple of people, it is well known that Zalando and DH are terrible companies to work for. Staff turnover is high, people stay there for barely 2 years, and I guess they don't leave earlier because they can't find jobs sooner (contrary to what they say, they don't make your cv more attractive, both are average to mediocre companies). This of course doesn't apply to german employees.
Why is DH a terrible company? Reading reviews i saw mostly positive ones
Come to Wayfair. Much better pay. Less toxicity.
Current TC?
I've worked there for a short term as a mobile engineer, and ran for my life and left before my probation ended (otherwise the notice period would be 3 months) , and I wouldn't recommend it, at least not if you've already experienced a better workplace, as it felt like a downgrade for me technically and didn't align with my ambitions. On the other side, I sensed that their backend culture is in a much better place than their mobile, and their engineers were happy with the WLB. One of the things that I've hated, is their recruitment hypocrisy, they did FANG-like interviews(algo&ds), giving average salaries, but you end up working with mediocre colleagues, and a huge legacy code base that's 6+ years old.
Can we say no to zalando once we accept offer letter contract?
Have you signed anything? If no just tell that you've changed your mind and you're not joining
I have worked at zalando, I had positive experience with the company. It was 3 years ago.
Hey can you please help me understand does Zalando offers RSU or any other additional salary components apart from the base?
I am not sure about the current situation. The only component we had back then was base salary and matching contributions for stock purchase. No RSUs and bonus
I wouldn’t recommend it if you prefer a faster pace, ability to rise quickly and more autonomy over your work. There’s a big German bro culture at the top and decisions are made very slowly. Salary could be better. That said depending on the department you can work with the latest technologies and the employee discount doesn’t hurt. Stay away from all German teams, they won’t bother holding any discussions in English. I was fired during my probation because I wasn’t delivering anything. I was supposed to deliver an AI product with a team who just finished studying an ML mooc. Also didn’t get any onboarding from my lead. When I escalated to my skip lead he fired me.
Woah
Stay away from Toxicando
What is your discipline and why is TC only 80k at YOE7?
