Curious how many hours parents of little ones put in towards leetcode

Last time I interviewed was for internship and all questions were leetcode easy. Got a return offer so I have never experienced a full round of interviews. It's been a while since then so I'm a bit rusty. I also have a toddler who takes up the majority of my time. Just curious how people would/have tackle(d) this. I figure I can get in 1-2 hours most week nights and maybe 1-3 hours depending on naps on the weekends.

I tried to do it with 2 kids. Almost burnt out, and failed my target company. Either wait until they get older or increase the time. But either way is not easy.

Curious what your target company was. I'd love to.move to another FANG but I'd be happy with LinkedIn/Microsoft/Apple or even smaller company.

It was exactly another FANG. But I was unlucky. I got the problem I knew, but screwed up on details.

Zero hours with a kid smaller than five years old. After that you can get back maybe an hour or two.

In same boat kid is 18 months hardly get time to leetcode

Forget about leetcoding. I guess I'm stuck at square for at least a few years. Either the little one needs less attention or I become senior enough for an L6+ candidacy.

Honestly took some adhd magic pills to make it work

Which one did you take, if you don't mind sharing?

This thread makes me so sad :(

Kids put a dent in your career for the first 4-5 years. Once they are in school, life gets easier again. Not like it was when you were kidless, but easier. I was trying to run a startup with a baby and a toddler at home. Now *that* is a recipe for disaster. A bit of leetcoding won't kill you, but would save interview prep for paternity/maternity leave time (ever notice how many people come back from those leaves and give notice? happens at least 50% of the time) or when relatives are in town to help with kids.

:( I hate my current job and need to leave ASAP. No leave planned soon and no family around. I think I just need to negotiate more study time with my SO but they do a fair amount of child care duties right now too.

i switched from Amazon recently.I have a toddler. I could put an hour or two every night but I failed 5 onsites and got two offers. I don’t think it is reasonable to solve all problems. I have solved total of 100 problems and this time around around 30.

Curious where you moved to and if your WLB got better?
