Hello Blinders A friend has accepted a job offer and the joining date has been agreed after 2.5 weeks. She currently works in EY and is still in probation. EY is asking to do a 1 month notice which will perhaps delay joining in the new company where she has already agreed to a joining date after 2.5 weeks. What can be done here ? The general notice period is 1 month but shouldn't it be much less when in probation ? Thanks #hrissues #noticeperiod
“It is not legally required to give notice to employees who have worked for less than 13 weeks. These employees are not legally entitled to the right for minimum notice periods. Employees who have worked longer than 13 weeks (even during a probationary period) are entitled to the relevant statutory minimum notice period.”
