Real talk: in what way private schools are better than public in nyc?
Why can't I find a software engineering job? I think I did everything right. I have made resumes for each type of job posting that is one page and ATS readable using resumelol website. I have got good projects in the fields of web development, mobile development (android, react native, flutter), crypto projects, and AIML projects. I am fluent in the tech stack. I have a good competitive programming profile. I have a decent leetcode competitive rank with 500+ questions solved and also good codechef 5 star coder. I have 3 internships, (albeit unpaid ones), but 0 YOE. I have tried domestic placements here in India and international placements abroad in America (I'm born in ROW Nepal), UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. I am not even getting a single interview call. Not even a chance to interview. I have sent out 7,000+ applications since graduation, and have got dead silence. Recruiters talk to me on linkedin because they say I lack experience or they are searching for someone else. What is going on? What have I done wrong? I can't even make it to HCL, Wipro or Cognizant? Why can't I crack a single placement? Is it because I attended a tier 3 college? Blind Tax: TC: 0 YoE: 3 Unpaid Internships
You’re looking for jobs in bad times
Looks like that is the case, but it’s kind of ridiculous that I can’t even a single placement 😭
You've done nothing wrong. You are probably a qualified quality candidate. Do not let these bad times make you doubt your value or your talents. These results are not reflective of your abilities. This is due to external circumstances. I'm sorry you're suffering 😔
Leetcode
I already did that. But what’s the point if I can’t even make it to interview. I can literally solve any question you give me. LC Hards included. I can do them all and really fast. I do competitive programming as well
Leetcode is useful once one gets into interview loops.
Which school did you go to? That's what determines the outcome, unfair but this is the reality
I went to a tier 3 college in india. Low tier school in india.
What’s your gender and race? You might not be bringing enough diversity.
I’m an Indian CIS male who is straight in india. I have zero diversity points
Well that’s a disadvantage. Every diversity hire was chosen over you.
Market is not good currently for junior roles.
Yeah, it absolutely sucks. I can't find a single job.
Those projects you listed are all bad examples (i.e. frontend, mobile development, crypto and "AIML" which was probably just calling a library).
Yeah but I build a whole full stack application interface around an AIML app. I built and trained a model to calculate house prices based on size. I still know how to utilize tensor flow to write and build AIML applications with data. Is that not AIML enough? I know how it works from watching YouTube videos. I know the internal workings of a deep neural network
It seems like everyone knows the internal workings of deep neural networks these days, based off of my LinkedIn feed. It has been interesting seeing every Karen post about what the future holds with AI now 😂
