Poll: Dropbox or Google?
Hi all, I received my numbers for these companies today. I also have an offer from GitHub but they didn’t give me any stock so it’s not even worth adding as an option here. Dropbox (virtual first, Seattle): Level: IC3 (similar to Google L4) Base: $180K Stock: $320K over four years with 1 year cliff Sign on: $10K Google (Seattle): Level: L5 Base: $158K Stock: $194K (33/33/22/12), need to check if monthly or quarter vesting Sign on: $10K Also, I could use more information about expected refresher numbers for both companies if possible. I thought dropbox IC2 is Google L4. In this case, easily Dropbox. Great Benefits and fully remote too
Are these offers for an SWE role? If so, your Google base salary and stock grants are too low for L5, even in Seattle.
Dropbox. Better reputation for design and higher compensation offer...Google could be great too tho, and you can probably negotiate that base up to your Dropbox offer. Weigh how you felt in the interviews too.
Congrats! Did you negotiate much yet? The Google numbers look quite different to what levels.fyi show for L5 product designers at Seattle, though I have no idea how representative that really is.
I had a friend call me yesterday for Google’s L3 numbers in Seattle. They’re so low! Why doesn’t Google pay at least MSFT equivalent?
I think G is really trying to take advantage of their brand equity now and seeing who will accept their low ball offers.
I would ask Google to match, if they do would go with Google
