Got offer from Amazon DS. Help with immigration issues ~

Hello Blind Community I am DS Consultant at Guidehouse consulting. My passport expired few weeks ago while on H1B (i797B: Consular process). I was notified and now am currently on 3 month unpaid leave (maximum my company can give) while still employed, to get new passport issued, go back to India, get my H1B re-stamped again and enter to resume my job. I have to be back by end of May. Meanwhile I was already hunting jobs and this leave luckily helped me get more time to prepare. I cracked the Amazon DS process and got offered a L5 role. I haven't told them about my situation and now I am afraid to. However I told them I needed to go to India and can only start H1B transfer process once I come back, which they are fine with. The current offer has starting date of June 15th and offer is obviously contingent on successful background check. 1. Should I worried about having any issues with background check ? I am employed but on unpaid leave till I rectify my situation. 2. The covid delays all over are making me doubt if I will be able to meet the deadline. (Need to get new passport--fly back to India--get h1b appointment--get stamped--flyback). Should I be upfront with my situation to the recruiter? Any helpful will be super appreciated.
