Meta survival tip for new hire e5 in infra
So im in a group of friends, and one is an account executive at Dynatrace, and everyone in the group is claiming the Dynatrace person makes over $800k\yr there… I mean, I get that their tool is useful, but is this actually probable? I mean $800k liquid from commission and salary? I never thought one could reach such numbers there…
Many non tech roles make $800k+
1M+ in tech sales is very common
Apparently I need to do tech sales. Shit.
Yeah tech sales ote commission is high
Then why doesn’t everyone compete and gun for sales jobs?
Not everyone can succeed as a SWE.
If you are not a good seller, if you cant position and also close a deal, you wont make any money but the base.. I‘ve seen the good and the bad ones..
Most AEs have uncapped potential in form of sales commission. Their typical OTE is 50-50 split (fixed plus commission). If an account exec attains 250-300 percent of their quota, they can definitely take home 800-900k. One of the AE I supported a few years ago at another company took home a million dollar almost every year. Salespeople with that earning level, work extremely hard, are extremely smart individuals (more disciplined than smart).
Depends on how the comp plan is structured and their pipeline for sure
