switching teams turning nerve wrecking

Posting for a friend who is switching from a contractor to full time in a different team. Below is friends question- I am not am employee of company X. I interviewed with different teams in company X and finally got an offer that i accepted. I am currently at X for last 2 yrs. When i went in today to tell that i will be leaving by end of month, Current reporting manager says he wants to know name of the new hiring manager. Should i tell him? If not how? Will it hurt my offer?

You hurt his feelings. Don’t tell. Anyways if he wants to he can find it and would be digging his own hole doing that

What do ppl suggest in this situation? I tell myself that since i am a contractor i should not have to seek permission. am i wrong? How to get around telling the name?

You are not required to have his permission. Join your next team asap and then you can tell.
