Hi, wondering what's the difference between roles of following in #sapient #publicissapient 1. Manager 2. Senior Manager 3. Director This is related to Java and Cloud #software #tech #engineering #swe #sdm #tcs #infosys #techmahindra #wipro #hcl #cognizant
Manager means you generally do a lead role for a small team and have to deal with people managing people not directly on your team. You will be 100 billable to the client so have to manage the people management some how. Senior manager Generally expected to manage a couple of teams, people manage 5+ people, contribute to pitching for new work (while still on billable projects) some internal BS initiatives for what ever the leadership is chasing with little guidance or reasoning. You will probably get to be 20-30% hands on dev if you are lucky.I got 12% increment going from management to senior manager Director Expect to get pulled in lots of directions, pulled into projects that are on fire, pitch and work with new clients, be more than just an expert in Java plus cloud. You will be harder to bill for with clients so end up doing 20% here and there. You will probably people mange 15 people ontop of this. My director offer was less that 15%
Thanks a lot for your reply. I have mostly worked in product companies, so finding it hard what you are saying above....can I DM you?
Director is billable by client :) What if no client needs a director? Is there any good thing about being promoted to director level? Are SM and director are almost same in terms of work they do and experience they gain? I am not concerned about the offer or payment, I am trying to evaluate the kind of exposure one can get as SM vs Director.
