Do you feel pressure to save some PTO for taking time off December 15 - January 3 because everyone else is OOO.
When everyone else is ooo, it feels like PTO anyway, why would you want to save for that
Before kids I'd work though those periods...I'm very introverted and hate the holidays due to all the socialization...with kids now, I have no choice but to take PTO during holidays to take them to relatives and spend time with em while they have time off school.
Before I had a family, Christmas was the best time not to take pto, since the office empty and there was nothing to do anyways. It was like having PTO and just hanging out at the office. Cheistmas eve was literally a half day.
Never felt this. Love it when an Indian friend covers a time my fam gets together. Big approval from me.
There are Indian Christian’s too you know, who celebrate Christmas just as much :D
Yep but my friend is not.
I don't feel pressure to save it. I save some for then because I want to. In a world before WFH not having to wake up and commute in for a slow day was awesome.
Cisco US is closed every year 12-22/23 to 1-2/3. and mandatory PTO for days between Christmas day New Year’s Day. This year we are off 12/24-1/3 and we only use 3 mandatory PTO days. Yes, it’s mandatory, however, everyone is off, so no need to check work email/chat for 10 days.
Do you need to use your own PTO bucket or it’s just company wide day offs (like shutdown)?
your own bucket.
When I was at NVIDIA it was mandatory company policy. If you had no PTO left you didn’t get paid.
I don’t take time off during holidays because almost everyone is out, chill mode on.
Christmas time is the best time to work lol. It's dead and no one around.
As a minority I feel the pressure to take Christmas off
What has being a minority got to do with taking Christmas off? I am genuinely curious, not trolling.
Probably meant “not Christian”
