China is experiencing surge, lockdowns and standstill everywhere. Situation is getting really bad there. Will we see lockdowns and COVID resurgence again in US?
Absolutely not. Absent some new gruesome symptoms like melting faces or bleeding eyes, the US is done with lockdowns
Well, there'll be the normal bumps during holiday seasons but I think unlikely to get to outbreak levels like China with their weaker vaccines unless a very impressive new variant comes along.
We just had an election so no.
We won’t have lockdowns but we will have roses in cases. Tho infection rates are still pretty low, the main worry is how likely you are to develop long Covid. Still worth masking and sanitizing tbh.
Hand washing and sanitizing, yes. Unless you're standing in a crowd of people, masking is a no.
If they want to print money again it could be a good excuse.
China hasn't built the immunity we've built through previous waves. The vaccine is the only protection most of them have, and it's probably not as good as having prior infection plus vaccine together.
Keep telling yourselves this nonsense. Long covid is a real thing! The Chinese knows that and are not willing to sacrifice their people for that
Long-covid is definitely a thing, but the risk of it is also clearly overblown. Everyone I know has had covid at this point, sometimes multiple times. There’s no mass disability happening. The Atlantic has an article on “medium covid” that does a good job of reconciling these opposing narratives.
China had shit vaccines 💉
Doesn’t china have access to phizer and moderna?
Moderna is not in China. Pfizer will soon available but only to foreigners https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.politico.eu/article/olaf-scholz-china-visit-secures-biontech-pfizer-vaccine-covid-19-coronavirus-access-for-expats/amp/
Is winter which is the natural whether for Covid
Americans have been successfully conditioned to accept mass death and disability from COVID. Nothing is going to bring back lockdowns.
The lockdowns seem bad in China, but they aren’t due to high covid rates, correct? Covid has tested all of us personally and politically, so no judgment here, but it seems like the West is on its way out of covid, and China’s road is just beginning. In the U.S., we’re seeing all kinds of after effects from the lockdowns. We have kids in school, and like many of our friends, we’ve been sick basically non-stop for the last couple of months. RSV rates are especially high this year, and it’s straining capacity in children’s hospitals. Independent of covid, China will face this too. Seems possible for the government to chart a path forward, but perhaps as tough as the covid-related political challenges we’ve seen in the U.S.
