Cannot blend into American culture

I am non-indian non-pakistani south asian, living here in US for 7 years. But still I cannot connect to anything in American culture. I do not know how people eat those spiceless tasteless food. I tried to watch so called football (real football is soccer here), it's so weird, I have no idea how people enjoy these kind of sports. I am here because that's how it works in our country. If you are a top student, you have to go to USA for masters or PhD, and then get a good job. It was all peer pressure. I could earn 6,000 USD in my country and could eat the same chicken and wear the same clothes that I am doing here earning 350,000. Sometimes I feel all these things are meaningless.

Well. It's more like 10k since I have some experience.

You answered your (indirect) question yourself. Could you have earned 350,000 in your home country? Affordability, standard of living, highly educated people and good influence is why people come here. If you honestly feel you had it better back home, with all due respect, who/what’s stopping you from moving back?

If it was money alone, I would definitely move back. The problem is that here in my country you cannot get anything done without bribing people, even not an id card or license. But here in US I never had to bribe anyone for anything. Despite being a minority, I have never faced racism or hate. My efforts were always appreciated and rewarded (more or less). These things don't exist in my country. Culture is toxic there. Still sometimes I try to compare pros and cons, cannot decide which side is heavier.

Well you just answered your question right. Its for the RESPECT that you are in the US. You as an individual are RESPECTED and provided services by the govt to keep your life smooth.

If it makes you feel better I was born and grew up in the US but can relate to some cultures overseas better than in the US. US isn’t that great

Instead too many nons you can just say what you are

You make it sound like there is only one sports and one meal. And with this mindset you set yourself up for misery. Assuming that you live in the Bay Area, there are so many rich experiences and people in SF. You have to expose yourself to it.
