eBay Data Scientist offer Amsterdam
Hey guys, I am CS+DS graduate with 2 yoe, I was offered 67k base+10% bonus+20k RSU(yearly recurring, 25% vesting per year) for the role of Data Scientist. Work content is recommender system and NLP. Do you guys think it's a fair offer? I feel like I am lowballed as I expected 72k base pay. how does ebay pay in general? #ebaysalary #datascientist #amsterdam #datascience #machinelearning

I haven’t joined but following the news. There are 3 main competing parties in the bidding: Prosus, Adevinta, and PE consortiums. Prosus and Adevinta are more likely as they are already big in classifieds business. I think either of these two would be a good buyer for eCG as the new company would definitely be a giant in the classifieds business.
I know this is an old post, but could you share hiw the interview process went? Was leetcode part of it?
It is a strong offer for Amsterdam mid data science position with such yoe, 67k vs 72k after taxes gives you 200 euros differences. For ebay classifieds to get more you need a senior position offer, which is not possible with your yoe. With current COVID situation and uncertainty ahead I will say take it if you don't have better option.

I didn’t mean 72k for senior position, i am just saying that for 2 yoe 67k is good. For senior, indeed, 85k - 150k is the range. If you want to optimize earnings better go to high paying company in Amsterdam, like IMC or other high frequency trading company, Booking(not doing well, layoffs expected in September), ING(also not very good) or Uber(layoffs already started). In trading company you will have other structure of the salary, a lot of bonuses depending on your profit and loss. If you need more info just direct message me.
