Compensation is not commensurate with current inflation and 2022 cost of living. * “Consumer prices are up 7.5%” according to U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics. * Minimum wage, from 2019 to 2022 has risen by $3.00. From $12.00 to 15.00. A total increase of 25%, or 8.3% per year, according to TED: The Economics Daily After 15 yrs. in my role, I am advised that, 3 yrs ago, I hit the top of pay range for my position. Consequently, though my yearly evaluation supports it, there has been no hourly merit pay increase. Instead, I receive a once yearly “lump sum payment of 3%, my hourly rate. This POORLY, makes up for the average 2.5 hours per day overtime worked. (Summer hours are 12+ per day) I've calculated that, despite and accounting for, the "lump sum payment", my yearly income is conservatively, -$5,273.44 than had I received the yearly, hourly 3% merit increase 2020-Current. I am a highly regarded, top performer, one who is regularly recognized as such, by both co-workers and management. Yet, upon my last evaluation, I received a 3 out of 5 rating; completely inconsistent. Management claims that my role, which is within the “Planning Group”, is considered “Customer Service.” Nothing could be further from reality. In my opinion, the employer uses this stance to claim that I’m actually being paid higher than median for CS, which is $22.00/hr. Is this intended to make me feel “grateful”, or that they’re magnanimous, that for the past 3 yrs, my pay has stagnated at $31.41/hr.? My title, for which I was hired is NOT Customer Service. (I’ll leave it at that to maintain a level of anonymity). The description of my responsibilities is fully aligned with a “Supply Chain Coordinator”, for which the County of San Bernardino median rate per hour is $35.86. You may wonder, after all this critique, why I remain with Blue Triton Brands. (formerly Nestle Waters)… I love my job, and the people. And, depending upon one’s own circumstances and lifestyle, choices are made. Still, do I feel it fair? No.
I get you're venting, but there isn't more you can do besides bounce jobs. To the company, there is no incentive to reward you for your effort. It sucks people can no longer do well and stay long term at a company while receiving appropriate compensation. You could try to get a competing offer and see if current company will match, but that's basically an ultimatum.
