Rude manager the likes of which I havent see before

Weird thing happened. Blind purged my post about rude manager yesterday. Could it be that my employer reported the post to blind? So I am reposting. I am not a Nordstrom employee. Recently joined a new company in a sector that I am very passionate about. The hiring manager (in discussion) reached out to me last year with a seemingly compelling opportunity. He tried to recruit me in 2017 as well but I wasn’t ready to make the move. Prior to joining the company, my manager was super courteous and respectful. But as soon as I joined, within 2 weeks he showed his true self and operating style. He is flat out extremely rude and disrespectful, baby sits me and just flipped the entire work narrative that he sold me prior to joining. Things he says in a very rude and non-professional tone “I don’t want you to think. I am telling you to do this”, always misunderstands my extremely well documented (emails, power point, verbal discussions) plans pertaining projects and then claims “I am not listening”, “I am just going off on my own” . Just last week on Monday I had a productive discussion about year end goals. He and I were fully aligned. Then on Friday he calls to discuss weights for each goals (based on which my performance bonus is tied) and for one of the goals he claims that “even a high school graduate can deliver that in a week. I don’t need you”. The goal was flashed out with details in my presentation that he and I both aligned just 4 days back. Then after we re-align he tells “I am being very selfish and doing me me me about goals” The biggest red flag is that on my very first day when I checked workday, my position was downgraded from what was offered in writing and on the basis of which my work visa was filed. They downgraded my position from Director (offer letter) to Sr. Manager. When I enquire, he says “why do I care as long as I got the compensation that I wanted” My manager is of Indian origin and I am also from India. I noticed that he is disrespectful and rude with Indians that work on visa in his team. Different engagement Style with non-Indians. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you manage? Did you communicate it to the HR or any ombudsman or have a chat with the manager? My only option is to leave the company where I haven’t been even 2 full months. TC 310K #tech

Please, share the company so that we know which company not to join.

I will, once I dump their ass.

Legally the company cannot downgrade you. Document all the mid demeanor and hire an employment lawyer to make a solid case

Nordstrom GTO_250 OP Apr 6, 2022

Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Are you aware of similar cases where people took legal action?

Meta growgrow Apr 8, 2022

Did you sign an employment contract that has your title?

Wayfair biHQ41 Apr 6, 2022

Screw these rude ass Indian managers who think they can walk over other folks dependent on visas

Atlassian ehrkajfwn Apr 13, 2022

You didn't even have to tell he was indian. We knew from the title itself
