Every few months there's a "race to world first" where the top World of Warcraft guilds fly out to a location and then rush to kill the new end boss for the latest content update. It seems like they're able to put on a pretty professional production for 16 hours a day with a studio in LA, catering, hotel rooms for everybody, ~30 professional players, custom software to help analyze their performance, blah blah blah. When the race is live it looks like it gets 50-100k viewers on Twitch at a time. I'm wondering how the numbers add up for this sort of event. I'd guess that renting a venue and putting 50 people in it with hotels and whatnot could cost $150k at least, and that's not even counting the salaries for the players, crew, etc. What do you Blind lads and lasses think?
