The article didn’t really explain the justification. The call button still work, so it’s not impossible
Its about signal strength, you may get a lower strength signal, most of the packets are lost in an enclosed environment. You can do this experimennt. Put your phone in a thick mettalic box with no way for even light to pass into it and you would see you could never make even a regular call to that device or bluetooth or wifi connections would fail as well.
Google guys seems to get reception in elevators. Maybe apple needs to up their game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
