Job Offer @ Facebook - 12 mo Contract? 🤔

Hi! A friend suggested I post here for advice. Thank you in advance for the help, I am extremely thankful for being in this predicament as I am a first-gen immigrant. I had been passively looking to see what's out there for the past year when 2 weeks ago a recruiter reached out. I decided to give it a shot and see what came out of this opportunity. I had the 3rd interview on Friday and today I received a job offer for their Global SEO Specialist opening. I've never worked through a recruiting agency so I'm not really sure how to approach this or what to consider before taking the new job. Considering I was passively looking the recruiter submitted my application at $57/hour so I suppose Facebook approved this rate. My current salary is $108.5k. Unlimited PTO, 4% 401k match, 100% covered health insurance. Culture is great and can take usually take advantage of the time off. They also provide a 100% donation match to charitable organizations (up to $500) which I'm a big fan of. I have been here for almost 4 years & got promoted once - had to fight very hard for desired new salary. There is also limited career growth since I'm in a small team. They've been trying to hire people for +6 months. The new role offers $57/hourly. 15 days accrued PTO & 401k after 1 year. The recruiting agency offers full health, dental & vision & covers 50%. Pretty crappy benefits but I'm most interested in the future career opportunities considering I want to move away from the marketing agency and make my way as an in-house specialist. They stated over the phone 90% of their contractors get extended & 75% move to full-time employees. Since the recruiter and I agreed on the hourly rate before my application was submitted to Facebook, I'm not sure if it is a bit too late to do any kind of negotiations. Any thoughts/guidance/resources on this would be incredibly appreciated! Thanks! #marketing #bayareajobs

Sorry just added, Global SEO Specialist.

Having Facebook, even as a contractor, on your resume will open so many doors for you to convert to a FTE internally or go to other top tech companies as FTE. Congrats!

Yes, this is primarily why I'm leaning towards taking the job & what I'm most interested in at this point in time. Just curious if I'm too late into the process to do any kind of negotiation... and thank you!!

FB usually doesn’t convert contractors to FTEs.

I know it's not guaranteed but will def look more into this. They mentioned "Contract duration: 12 Months to start" so my guess is they're likely to extend another year vs FTE?

Worked as an FTE in FB marketing (channel/growth marketing). We had 2 contractors who were treated like second class citizens by their manager and many FTEs, but they had a comfortable life in terms of easy, execution-only work. I would say, not the best company to contract for if you have self-respect and career aspirations. There are different "type" of contractors that are converted to FTEs, but those are some senior level people with $200/h comp, not an execution-only role paid $57/h. You're 99% not getting converted.

Your current job seems to be better in terms of benefits, PTO. FB doesn’t convert contractors. I’m pretty sure there’s weird “rules” about listing the recruiting agency vs FB on your LinkedIn. You’re better off waiting and applying for a FTE role.

The recruiter would have exclusivity at this point since they made the introduction, unfortunately
