I was contacted by an external recruiter for a “full-time” PM role at a big tech firm in SF. Took the interview… then they admit actually it’s a contract role. And they are pretty cagey about giving any details on the role, what product it would be for, whether it’s b2b or b2c etc. They can’t even say how long the contract is for, and the salary range they give is well below the range at the clients hiring website. The pretty simple questions about the role I’m asking get blank stares. Aside from the obvious of this being a totally annoying interaction with a recruiter… I’m wondering if this place is even legit? Hard to tell if it a scam or just incompetence (the recruiter didn’t know there was a difference between Product Manager and Project Manager, for starters).? If they are legit, is this poor recruiting experience indicative of how they operate? Or is it just the recruiter I met who is an outlier? Anyone have any experience working with or for them? Or have experience working with contractors from them?
Yes, have heard eBay uses them a lot.
Thanks. Seems like they should be legit then. But my god the recruiting process seems scammy.
They are a consultancy so this is expected unfortunately.
