It’s garbage culture for SW engineers. No respect at all. They will treat SW engineers like analysts because they don’t have any other band level. So same level as an analyst. But that’s Toyota HQ. If you go to the better side of, aka, Toyota Connected, that’s much better for SW engineers as mentioned above. They are rock solid and pay is better. But without HQ benefits. Gotta loose somewhere…
Just keep in mind, it’s an automotive culture instead of a tech company culture. What does that mean, your career will be rock solid if you go to a FAANG companies first. Inside joke in Toyota is for SW engineers is, they go work at automotive companies because they couldn’t get a job in tech companies… so keep that in mind when applying after Toyota job.
Toyota makes good hardware but sucks at software. Their app is garbage (2.1 rating) and has been for at least a year. Remote start is so flaky you can’t trust it’ll work at all.
