We are looking to buy a condo / home around South Bay. What are some best apps / websites that we could use to search for: 1. New house listings 2. Good schools in these areas 3. School district maps I tried using Redfin and Trulia. Looking for a resource that consolidates different aspects of home search.
Redfin for sure for listing data and accuracy. Not only because I work here. I found it out long before I joined when I was buying for the first time
City data is almost like blind and you can post questions regarding area. Redfin is the best resource. I used it a lot during my search. School ratings are updated on Redfin
+1 for Redfin but once you get serious about home, you still need to call the district and double check whether particular home belongs to the school you want. And also school rating doesn't tell much quite often, you need to look at academics, test results. It can be looked up here: http://caaspp.cde.ca.gov/sb2016/ViewReport?ps=true&lstTestYear=2016&lstTestType=B&lstGroup=1&lstCounty=43&lstDistrict=69385-000&lstSchool=6046452
BTW, your real estate agent would totally do it for you.
I would say no to real estate agents at least for buying purpose. They are mostly useless. I had terrible experience. But from looks of it, everyone thinks about themselves . That's human nature. Normally agent starts out really well for a week or two. Then they rush , pressurize and push you to buy house. They don't care what price u want to pay or what price house is really worth. All they care is closure and their pay check . That normally ends you paying more than house's worth. It happened to a lot of people. They will make you feel-'you won bid in bay area'. Conversely , your chances of winning bid are much higher if you go without agent.
Hello op, I'm a backend dev at Trulia and would love to know what aspect of school search is missing and how can we help more. Also, are you using web or mobile. Thank you.
redfin absolutely does that. it allows searching by school too. you just need to know what schools you're interested in. I'd also use citydata. search there and ask questions
+1 for City data. I tend to look there when comparing out of state neighborhoods
