Accenture Career Path

Received an offer for Associate Manager/ Sr. Project Manager (L8). Tc seems low to me, Recruiter said it was above the range - I don’t believe recruiters, should I negotiate on this? Moving into management and getting experience sounds good. Is it worth it, is there a career path forward, should I just wait for my Amazon interview that’s being setup? TC $120k Update: I turned the offer down, the pay bump wasn’t much more than I’m making now, no relocation, and I was losing 4 PTO and 3 paid holidays. #consulting #tech #help

You will earn every penny by working long and insane hours and "under- promising and over-delivering" on the over-promises made by the people involved in the proposal process, many of the difficult people that you will encounter will be your Accenture peeps, but trust me, this will be the best stepping stone for your career when you leave after 3-4 years. I did it, loved the first two years, hated the last three, but it helped me get a great career path and save a lot of money because when you travel, the cash flow is great, as basically, your living expenses are covered!

Except when I have a family. I’ve got interview with Amazon lined up, if I’m going to work myself to death might as well get compensated for it.

Totally agree with you OP. It is not worth taking ACN offer for that TC. Strive a bit harder and get a package that is truly rewarding as the amount of efforts that is expected to be put into is same. For a non travelling consultant there are no perks at all. Agree with the above comments on working with difficult people. You will be surprised by the amount of resistance you get while doing your job! So not worth the pain..

The salary range is on par with L8 for tier2 city.

Accenture hopeisfree Mar 23, 2021

Is this AFS or Accenture LLP?

Boeing JohnDeaux OP Mar 23, 2021

LLP, and I believe it is a tier 2 city.

Accenture hopeisfree Mar 23, 2021

Gotcha. I think that’s in line with LLP. I’m L8 with AFS and had an offer for 150 in T2 city as well, but the clearance bonus played a factor. Without it, I would’ve been at 132, but I’m also in the cloud delivery practice, so it differs between practices as well. If your offer with AWS is your dream position, then take it. If not, grind it out at Accenture for a couple years and then make the jump. You only get one chance to get the TC with Amazon to where you want it, especially with RSU’s. The TPM role there might suit you with a couple years as a PM under your belt at ACN.

The recruiter said my offered salary was above the range that they had to get special approval. Sounds like a farce, a way to make me feel bad about asking for more?

Like the comments above, associate manager is not too much on management, perhaps manager or Sr manager.

Accenture WxxE35 Mar 24, 2021

Seems a bit low imo. What’s the city?

Boeing JohnDeaux OP Mar 25, 2021

It was Nashville, I turned the offer down. No relo and I’d be losing 7 PTO days a year as well as the fact that the jump in pay would only have been ~5%. I’ve got a couple Amazon interviews coming up, if I’m going to be working my ass off I rather get TC for it.

Lol I'm at 135k at L10
