Hello blind, ever since joining amazon a few months ago, my left eye has developed an involuntary twitch. I have no idea what the cause of this is 100%, I looked it up online and apparently it's either stress related or caffeine or sleep? Maybe it's all this layoff talk is the cause, but I have been sleeping generally okay and caffeine usage is normal (2 cups per day, 3 absolute maximum, none after 3pm). Has anyone else had this issue? I have been ignoring it thinking it will go away but I definitely got some weird looks in a large meeting today so seeking some genuine advice. Should I see a doctor?
I have the exact same issue with my eyelids. It comes and goes. Seems to be less frequent now. I went to my primary care Doctor and they said they weren’t concerned about it. He said he could be due to exercise, change in diet, (anything really). He said as long as long as it’s my eyelid it’s not really a problem and he would expect it to go away. He was saying if it was my actual eye than that could be a problem but he was saying if it was my eye , my vision would be moving around but it wasn’t
Basically, the doctor didn't know what the issue is, but wasn't able to categorize it into known list of dangerous issues. Was the lower eyelid twitching or the upper eyelid?
It's either Stress or Caffeiene. I get it every time I detox from energy drinks, but I also throw 4 to 6 back a day, so it might just be my level of intake vs normal. Diet, exercise, better sleep habits, and cooler lighting will likely go a long way.
Having FBI on a platform that boasts anonymity is kind of a paradox!
It's due to stress. 100%
Make sure you get enough rest, and stay hydrated. It helps me feel better to massage around the eyes for a little bit when it gets really bad. But if it's stress related, try your best to address the issue.
Facing same issue , it gets better with digital detox and staying away from caffine
Concensus so far does seem to be towards screen time which i admit is very high ie ~ 70-80% of waking hours. Will try books instead of devices when relaxing at home :)
You should have good health insurance at Amazon, no? Ask your doctor. IMO try reducing the coffee intake. “Normal” may be high for you.
I have had an occasional eye twitch for decades. It manifests when I am stressed and/or tired. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. If it starts interfering with your life, get in to see your doctor.
Yes. Less caffeine, more sleep, less eye strain (reading, screens, etc). That’s what helps me.
Eye strain. Get some eye drops and minimize white screen exposure. And try to have good lighting in your office space. Use night light, it helps as well.
I stopped caffeine altogether and it stopped because I slept better. You can also get Botox injections to stop the twitching if it's chronic.

It’ll go away. Try to truly unplug in the evening and on weekends. And sleep in a few days in a row. Had the same issue during my time at Amazon a couple of yrs ago.
Thank you, really appreciate this a lot :)
