I know it’s all relative but trying to get an idea which larger areas have the best wlb compared to others. Got a toddler and an infant and trying to see where I can do the best. Don’t mind working 45-50 hours a week.
Zuck’s body double
I wouldn’t pick their “hot” services (I.e FRL, AI/ML)
Why? Is FRL very stressful work?
Ads and Business products. Not “sexy” work and not super interesting, but WLB is great. 40-45 hours for me consistently.
I’d that related to Ecosystems Analytics? How’s the TC?
I’ve only heard terrible things about WLB in ads…
Just curious at MSFT you work beyond 50 hours ?
About 25 on a bad week
Wow. So on normal or good weeks it's like 15-20 / week ?more time back ! Awesome. It's true for software engineers too ?
If you are SWE ... < 40 hours is the standard at FB / Meta now. although no one will accept to a stranger that they work 30-35 hours, most teams will be less than 40 hours. Just ask the people on the team and manager clearly if they work more than 40 hours a week when you talk. You can also look at time of day they are sending out diffs and accepting diffs etc. to see if they work late or on weekends.
Thanks
Do you have access to the code base from day one? And how do you know where to look?
recent poll on meta blind: 35hr/week or less is 30%, 35-40 is 15%, 40 is 5%, 40-45 is 18%, 40-50 is 10%, 50+ is 22%. Blinders are nuts. Just stay away from teams with extremely low diversity & teams with all young engineers.
Extremely low diversity means all people from one unique country? Or all white?
Same country
@op in same situation as you, are you joining meta?
Premium moosic videos
I didn’t know that was available in meta. Is that Facebook or completely independent?
The guy who runs the team has a name that feels like Santa Claus, you can't go wrong if you score that team.
