USPS has lost my EAD card, what do I do?

So the local usps office called an hour ago and told me that since they have no tracking history on my EAD card for the past two weeks it should be deemed as lost. Pretty heart broken as I've been waiting 10 months to be allowed to work in the US and don't want to have to file a new application and go to the back of the line again.. is there any way I can speed up getting a new application through?

Post it in the F1 OPT Facebook group. There are numerous posts about USPS loosing the EAD cards.

You don’t have to file a new application. Just tell USCIS that you didn’t receive the card.

Trying to reach out to a senator from my state and see if they can help

They can send you a new one. You will have to file for replacement which is easy

Just tell USCIS to replace it, why the hell are you crying about it in blind, LOL

Put yourself in OP shoes (who was waiting for it for 10 months) and you will understand. But instead you choose to be an idiot.

I was a F1 student at some point and I have been through enough immigration related worries over the years to critique a reaction to something like this happening. A simple Google search would have solved OP’s question. So who is the idiot for assuming my situation? Idiot.

USCIS has a page where you can file lost in mail report. It's pretty straight forward, similar to a typo on the card. It's all on the same page.

This is not a big deal, don't sweat it. They'll mail you a new one. Happens more than you'd think

Sure hope so, cheers

I went through the same thing in 2015. Wait for few days, your EAD might go back to USCIS which will be reflected in the status. At that time you can request to mail it again. Otherwise, You have to wait for 30 days to file for replacement EAD card. If you are staying in apartment make sure you label it with your name it as USPS will drop USCIS docs only when they see the name in the mailbox They processed my replacement request faster. Good luck. hang in there, I know how frustrating it is.

Thanks for the support! The local usps office has sent me an email stating that they have lost my letter and that it is solely due to faults by the USPS

With the opt application going online, I think that should help you out a bit more making the process streamlined and easier!

Fintech Company Mark1337 OP Nov 6, 2021

I'm a spouse of a visa holder, not a student so not sure if there's a streamlined process for me as well but will check

Oops, my bad! I don’t know why I assumed that you were a student!

Just apply new one based on experience I had for h4 EAD. They will reject your request to resend if usps says it’s delivered.

Luckily a usps supervisor at my local post office said they've lost it in no uncertain terms in an email

Fintech Company Mark1337 OP Nov 10, 2021

OK for anyone in this thread who is interested or anyone who finds this thread when facing similar issues: I've spoken with the uscis (I even called twice to make sure it wasn't just one agent being wrong) and I am cleared to work despite not having my EAD card, as I am approved to work in their system. Companies can verify your employment authorization using e-verify which doesn't require your card. I was also told that filling out the I9 form with my US driver's license + SSN is sufficient despite the SSN card saying "Valid for work only with DHS authorization", which the I9 says is not a valid card.. super stressful navigating this stuff.

Talk to attorney. Agents are not trained to answer these questions. You are NOT allowed to work if you don’t have EAD card in your hand. I know it’s tempting to continue working, but unlawfully working will damage your green card chances. Talk to attorney

Fintech Company SoLoMiD1 Nov 11, 2021

Yeah I did, my attorney said the same thing. I can work on the receipt of my replacement card application though for 90, and with the recent court case giving L2s automatic work authorisation within 120 days from now that would mean I'd be covered. Will also try to engage both lawyers and politicians to expedite my replacement application
