I want to try something new outside of Amazon. I’ve been here a while, got promoted from L6 PMT to L7 Principal to Sr Manager. I want to apply to a Group PM position at Google but would like to understand 1) if I have a shot, 2) how to prep for the interview before I even apply. I manage a team of 6 PMTs, all ICs, each with their own tech teams. Thanks for the help! Yoe: 13 (7 at Amazon) TC: ~$450K #product #pm #productmanager #google #groupm
7 years at Amazon and with all the stock growth I would have expected TC to a bit higher
Started off as an L6 PMT MBA hire. Grew from there.
Are you still looking for change ?
Perhaps. It would depend on the location and job. I’ll send you a DM to learn more.
Is going from Principal PMT at Amazon to Sr Manager a promotion? Or it just happens when you move from being an IC to manager?

Yes you do if you can go as specialist PM in your domain rather than generalist PM.
Do I have a shot as a generalist? I see more options available as generalist.
Not as a group pm
