New Grad: Apple vs Bloomberg

Hi folks, new grad here looking for advice on which offer to choose. Quantitative details (TCs are expressed in a single figure but in reality BB is base + bonus and Apple is base + equity) in the poll, qualitative details below: — Locations — Apple: Seattle Bloomberg: New York City — Teams — Apple’s in the Siri org, Bloomberg is TBD (their new grad setup is a team-matching process after 6 weeks of training/orientation). Apple is more skewed to product engineering, Bloomberg would (at least in theory) be more of a backend/systems role. Worth noting that culture and coworkers wise, I’m very lucky to say that I think I’ll be in an amazing spot either way. — Thoughts, Goals, and Questions — - I think the most likely medium-term goal for me is to get into a startup (along the lines of starting my own thing with friends or joining something early-stage), but I don’t want to close the door of going into the finance/HFT route because that’s something I’m interested in too. Would love to hear thoughts from more experienced folks on how these goals/interests impact decision-making. - Fairly location agnostic but I do think NYC has the edge. I’m a big fan of nature (++Seattle), but have a feeling hanging out in NYC might be better for early career networking + general fun. Any thoughts on NYC vs Seattle? - Does taking on a product engineering role pigeon hole me? Might be interested in the infra/systems side of things in the future, anybody have experience/advice regarding making the switch between either of those fields? Cheers yall 🫡 #tech #apple #bloomberg #swe #software #faang #salaries #salary #salarycomparison #tc #newgrad #newgradsalary #nyc #seattle #engineering

Apple is definitely the better name and you’ll learn more there. But NYC is miles better than the grey depressing hellhole of Seattle. For that alone, I’d choose Bloomberg

Apple. Better name on resume, more TC, Seattle is less expensive than NYC, couldn't be an easier decision
