for those who are living in the NOVA area, how often do you take the bus to commute ?
if i have a partner that i live with, should we just have one car ? i was thinking of just having 1 car and just commuting via metro since its there.
thoughts ?

We used to have one car and we made it work. We live about 2 miles from the metro and our children went to daycare right next to the metro. We’d leave together, drop off the kids, park at the daycare parking lot (because f metro’s $5 parking fee), walk over and ride in together. We’d get so good that we’d generally be on the same metro home in the same metro car. But it’s coordination and when one person works late then they will need to take the bus home or walk or Uber from the metro. It’s not bad. But let me tell you - having 2 cars is kinda game changing and I won’t go back to riding the metro.

is the metro there pretty reliable ? from reading the time cards and stuff liek that, it sounds like they come in 30' intervals or something of that nature. like i dont want it to be snowing and next thing you know im waiting for an hr for the next bus lol

Ehhhhhhhh. When it works it works when it doesn’t it’s amazing how bad it doesn’t work. But that’s maybe like a once a month or once every other month thing at most? Check out metro hero alerts, unsuck dc metro, and hakunnah wamata for a good snapshot of reliability. The second two are heavily biased.
