I used to work at BR and I can definitely say, Illumina is leaps and bounds better than BR as far as training and development go, benefits are not as developed at BR, and the upper C-level folks are very old school. The team I worked on we weren’t allowed to be fully remote, they mandated we be in office at least 3 days a week, and we couldn’t have both Monday and Fridays wfh.
Hi! I've been with Bio-Rad for almost two years. I really like the company culture here and it feels good in terms of work life balance and job security. Bio-Rad is old and big but still has this family vibe somehow. As for benefits, they are super average. There is nothing outstanding about them but I guess they meet the standards. If you're transitioning from Illumina you might miss the spirit of freedom and high tech. Despite everything I said, I'd still recommend Bio-Rad as a place to work, especially if you are at a stage in life where you need to spend time with your family instead if working insane hours.
