Work had me on the road 60+ nights last year, and crossing 40 nights this week for 2018. Feels like a lot more than it sounds. How do you spend the hotel nights? I’ll skip between binge TV watching, continuing to work 12+ hour days, drinking, and occasionally feeling obligated to check out the local tourists attractions— “oh, jfk was shot there, neat”. All the time on the road spoils personal travel. Had a wedding this year and last year in Mexico that felt super forced and obligated.
I hear opportunities for hooking up with other business travelers. Easy to setup extra marital affairs. This is from a consultant friend... True?
Domestic - get a good dinner / meet up with a friend over wine / but mostly sleep in to take advantage of thick curtain and down pillows. A bit of Pokemon Go if there is a nearby stop. Handheld gaming w/ PSVita and Switch. International - dinner & sightseeing. Pokemon Go raids in crowded touristy (safe) areas. I enjoy checking out local grocery stores to see regional produces. If I have a work trip to Japan, convenient store raid every night (take turns amongst FamilyMart, Lawson, and SevenEleven).
Junk food, too much drinks, too much stress, less sleep = back pain , stress and anxiety disorders, weight gain, possibilities of cancer. Why don’t you slow down , get a non traveling job and enjoy
