How well does Nintendo pay for senior engineers? What’s the culture like? Does it feel like more of a tech focus (where tech is a profit driver) or is tech an afterthought and considered a cost center? I know a lot of companies like that pay less just because people want to work there for the name
Historically their TC has been on the lower side when compared to companies around them, but they’re based in Seattle so just look at their job apps. Base pay is listed and there’s no equity, just 30% bonus maximum
Fair enough! Yeah I did get a rough range from there but they don’t have a whole lot of open roles right now so didn’t know if that was a representative sample Thanks for the info!
From my friends experience who is there now they got the higher range of their role, but there’s no equity which severely hinders TC in the seattle area
My understanding is across the board Nintendo pays poorly.
I guess their pay is low.
Lower pay [Referring to Austin/Retro] and ancient tech/tools in some cases.
Depends on which branch of Nintendo you work in, but they are on the lower end. Senior software engineers can expect 145k ish to start with a performance bonus up to 40%. They also have a not guaranteed yearly bonus of 6 weeks of pay, if there products are selling well that year.
Codingame.com has a puzzle that will get you an interview I believe. It's crazy hard low level C stuff with encryption. So with that level of skill required I'm assuming they pay well.
I have never heard of that or this website. Do other companies hire from here?
Not sure. The users are very European as are the companies. I don't know if any USA companies use it.
