Has been kind of finicky and hit-or-miss about remote vs in person work across the massive company UNTIL NOW. bunch of dinosaur boomers pushing RTO 5 days a week far more comprehensively. the work life balance is gone. once my retention period for sign-on bonus is gone i am leaving- if not even sooner with a good offer.
You do realize that these so called “dinosaurs” designed and built the most complex machines for longer than you’ve been alive ??
Totally, Dave Calhoun helped authorise the very high quality 737 MAX as a board member. That's their total contribution. You must really love licking boots.
you do realize im posting this while also designing these complex machines? they only started falling out of the sky recently. i dont respect the leadership. things are only continuing to get worse.
Hate to break it to you but compared to pretty much anywhere else your WLB at Boeing is still top tier.
It depends on your manager. If your manager is bad - you’ll have no wlb at all. If your manager is good, then you’ll coast. The problem is managers change all the time, so you’re going to lose the Russian roulette of Boeing reorgs at some point. Speaking from experience in bgs
With the entry-level market being bad right now, is it a good idea to just take whatever job? I am soon going to interview for an automotive position doing generic "electrical engineering." I was hoping to do analog/digital design and work with ICs. Most of these jobs seems to be like entry-level defense jobs; a lot of 3D modeling, interfacing components (that someone else actually designed) into the electrical system, etc. Is it safe to say that in a few years, I would be starting over again if I want to do design work or is any experience good experience?
Any experience is better than no experience. But in automotive, you’ll start from entry level if you want to switch to analog/digital design and your current work is as you describe. But you will have a much higher chance of getting that opportunity if you have any work experience
If you want to do analog/digital IC design, take the time when the job market is bad to at least get an MSEE in Analog circuit design. Source: that's what I did in a previous downturn and now I do IC design.
BCA is FT RTO since December. BDS and BGS are still hybrid
BDS depends on the role and team if your work is classified you’re definitely not hybrid. Also my site is pushing 5 day RTO
Lets design and build airplanes remote, what could go wrong? If you dont have some passion for some of the most complicated machines humans have ever built dont work here. The more disconnected the workforce, the crappier the product.
