For people who were procrastinators and lazy bums, and later became industrious, how? Do you have any tricks or strategies to share?
You need to be challenged in your job. Complacency is the worst thing.

I became hard working for a bit. And it was the most crucial time of my life. I’d always had a feeling that I was not doing half as much as I could. I would plan, plan and plan and never deliver. I was becoming frustrated with myself. Everyone would view me as brilliant and sharp, but I couldn’t deliver, because of my laziness. And then one day, I realized I couldn’t let this continue. I told myself “no more excuses” just for the next two years. And man did I out perform everyone. To be specific , I gave it my all during grad school. Ended up with a good offer at LinkedIn and life has been great since. Now I know I have it in me to work hard when the time demands it and I do that from time to time.
A stint as a contractor on a daily rate with six month renewals really sharpened me up. Nothing more thrilling than walking in day one at a new place and feeling you’ve got 4-6 weeks to make an impression. 5-6 years of living that life really altered my relationship with work - be as effective as you can be each day.
Trying to find meaning in life. If we spend work for 8 hours a day. Might as well be good at it. After all men deserve respect. Life is too short and mundane if we have goals to work on and go after the things we want
I realized I was ugly and so to get by in life I would require more money than the average person…
